Reigate Grammar School UK
Reigate Grammar School (RGS) is recognised as the premier HMC co-educational independent day school in the UK and is celebrated for its approach to bespoke leadership, academic and pastoral provision. RGS UK has many accolades, including:
-
the first school of its kind to be awarded ‘Exceptional’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) (2016)
-
the UK Independent School of the Year for Pastoral Care and Wellbeing (2019)
-
awarded the status of High Performance Learning (HPL) World Class School (2020)
-
awarded the Tatler UK Independent School of the Year (2020-21).
Reigate Grammar School was founded in 1675, from a legacy gift bequeathed by Henry Smith, an Alderman of the City of London, for the relief of the poor through education. Today, it continues with Henry Smith’s vision of providing opportunities to children from all backgrounds. Reigate Grammar School is extremely proud of its long history and ethos – it has been changing lives since 1675. This was recognised recently when RGS was awarded UK School of the Year 2021-22 for Social Mobility.
Reigate Grammar School provides a world-class education for children from ages 2-18. With over 1,000 pupils in the upper school it also has two junior schools: Reigate St Mary’s (with 350 pupils aged 2-11) was awarded ‘excellent’ in every category in their 2019 ISI Inspection Report; whilst Chinthurst (with 300 pupils aged 2-11) has recently been shortlisted for UK Independent Prep School of the Year. The strength of the RGS brand; its leadership and staff; its location and strong academic performance makes it a very attractive destination for prospective parents. Due to its leadership, performance and reputation, the demand for entry is extremely high.
This is a notable chapter in Reigate Grammar School’s 350-year history. By developing international connections, RGS aims to establish cultural and learning links to provide visit and exchange opportunities for students and staff. Developing international links and perspectives opens up cultural and learning opportunities across continents. RGS, through Reigate Grammar School International (RGSI) is firmly established in China and currently engaged in projects in the Middle East, and now in Vietnam.
“Central to our ethos is the belief that every child who receives a Reigate Grammar School education is on a journey with noble purpose and will go on to make the world a better place.”
