The Inauguration Of RGSV's State-Of-The-Art Auditorium

Reigate Grammar School Vietnam (RGSV) inaugurated its new state-of-the-art auditorium. The inaugural ceremony was a momentous occasion, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by esteemed guests, including Mr. Shaun Fenton OBE, RGS UK Headmaster; Mr. Marcus Winsley, Charge d'Affaires of the UK Embassy in Hanoi; Mrs. Mai Bich Thuy, Founder and Chair of RGS Vietnam; Mr. Patrick Glennon, Headmaster of RGS Vietnam; and Mr. Doan Anh Hoang, Founder of RGSV's Starling Orchestra.

The new 600-square-meter of RGSV Auditorium features a 360-seat auditorium and back-of-house support spaces. Designed for a variety of purposes, including assemblies, performing arts (theater and music), and large lectures, the space is regularly used for the RGSV Starling Symphony Orchestra's programs and the school's music program. The auditorium, equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, provides a professional stage experience, creating an ideal environment for students and artists to perform. This performance space is not only a building with modern facilities but also a testament to RGSV's educational vision. We are committed to offering a well-rounded education, providing maximum support for students to discover their full potential.

In his inspiring congratulatory speech at the ceremony, Mr. Shaun Fenton shared, "Today, we celebrate the opening of this beautiful School Theatre—a Theatre of Dreams. It represents the heart of the school's ethos, where the four pillars of academics, sport, arts, and music come together to form the foundation of the well-rounded education offered at RGS Vietnam." He emphasized that while academic qualifications open doors to opportunities, participation in sports, arts, and music develops a person's character. Resilience, courage, and determination will shape students' future success. He added, "This Theatre will be a place where children stand on the edge of the stage, nervous and uncertain, and then step into the spotlight. In that moment, they will learn not only about performance but also about themselves. They will discover that with determination, they can achieve anything they set their hearts on."

As highlighted by Mr. Marcus Winsley - Charge d’Affairs of UK Embassy Hanoi, he  comments that RGS Vietnam’s dedication to unlocking students' full potential is a commendable endeavor. In an environment characterized by significant academic pressure, the school's ability to foster a holistic approach to education, encompassing music, drama, sports, and interpersonal relationships, is a unique and valuable attribute. Such a comprehensive approach will undoubtedly equip students with the skills necessary to succeed in life.

The opening of this magnificent facility marks an exciting milestone for RGS Vietnam, demonstrating the school's unwavering commitment to nurturing and inspiring generations of students. It is a testament to the leadership, vision, dedication, and tireless efforts of the School Board of Trustees, which have created life-changing opportunities for the pupils of RGS Vietnam.

Looking back at the 350-year education legacy of Reigate Grammar School in the UK, we can trace its origins to Sir Henry Smith's vision, generosity, and hope. His great educational foundation has positively impacted thousands of children, helping them achieve great things and make the world a better place. In today's Reigate Grammar School Vietnam, Mrs. Mai Bich Thuy, the Founder and Chair, is laying the foundations of the well-rounded education offered to RGS Vietnam’s students. Ms. Mai Bich Thuy's great contributions and dedication to education have been deeply recognised by Mr. Shaun Fenton: “Miss Thuy is RGS Vietnam’s modern-day Sir Henry Smith. She is laying the foundations for generations to come, and her leadership is changing lives and building futures. The opportunities that she is providing for young people will not only transform their lives but will also help them go on to make the world a better place. Ms Thuy and her family are a shining example of how generosity and philanthropy can truly change the course of history, and we are all deeply grateful for her incredible contributions.” This doesn’t happen by chance; it is the result of exceptional leadership, and the entire team for their extraordinary work in creating something so special.

The opening of the performance auditorium is a testament to RGSV's commitment to providing a well-rounded education. It clearly reflects the continuation and development of the core values of Reigate Grammar School in the UK. With careful planning and strategic vision, the auditorium will become a symbol of holistic development, a place where generations of talented, confident, and creative students are nurtured and inspired. The event was a resounding success, marking a significant step forward for RGSV
