RGSV Students Shine at the International Science Olympiads
We are proud to share the results of our students’ participation in two of the most prestigious science competitions in the international academic calendar, the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) and the UK Chemistry Olympiad (UKChO).
The results make for excellent reading:
USA Biology Olympiad (USABO)
Jihu KANG (Y12) - Gold
Anh Ha Tran NGUYEN (Y12) - Silver
Junwoo HONG (Y12) - Honourable Award
Both Jihu and Ha Anh are no strangers to this competition. Last year, competing as Year 11 students, Jihu claimed Asian Silver and Ha Anh received an Honourable Award. To return this year and improve on those results is a testament to two students who do not stand still.
UK Chemistry Olympiad (UKChO)
Jihu KANG (Y12) - Gold
Nam Nhat Dang LE (Y12) - Silver
Khang Tho NGUYEN (Y12) - Silver
Seojun PARK (Y11) - Bronze
Eungyu KIM (Y12) - Bronze
A special mention to Jihu, who claimed Gold in both competitions, a remarkable double that speaks to a level of scientific ability that extends well beyond the classroom.
Qualifying and competing at this level places our students among the strongest science students in the region. And, what makes this year's results particularly meaningful is the thread of continuity running through them. Students who competed last year have come back stronger, and new names have joined the list. With results on this list representing a significant achievement and the culture of academic ambition we nurture at RGSV, we could not be prouder of every student who took on the challenge.
Congratulations to all involved.
