Reigatians participated in the Hanoi regional Round of the World Scholar's Cup
Twelve Reigatians participated in the Hanoi regional Round of the World Scholar's Cup on 6-7 May, 2023 hosted by the Dewey Schools, Hanoi.
The World Scholar’s Cup is a team academic competition featuring collaborative writing, team debate, team bowl, and team challenge (a multiple choice test on the WSC curriculum on six subjects: art & music, social studies, history, literature & media, science & technology, special area). Scholars participate in regional rounds to qualify for the global rounds, and exceptional scholars at the global rounds are invited to the Tournament of Champions hosted by Harvard University every year.
Some of our Reigatians formed all-Reigate teams, while others joined forces with scholars from other schools in Hanoi. These awesome scholars are: Nguyen Khoa DAO (Y7), Khanh An Tran LE (Y7), Hieu Cong PHAM (Y7), An Minh VU (Y7), My Thao XA (Y7), Anh Minh LE (Y8), Nam NGUYEN (Y9), Linh Gia DANG (Y12), Linh Thuy PHAM (Y12), Linh Thao TRAN (Y12).
They took home many, many hard-earned silver and gold medals, and here are the trophy highlights:

We also had two Y12 students participating in the round as Debate Judges, which is quite a rare feat! These equally awesome scholars are Han Gia LE and Linh Gia NGUYEN. Linh also played a crucial role in coaching the Senior Team (Linh Gia DANG, Linh Thuy PHAM, and Linh Thao TRAN).
We are proud of all of the achievements and would like to congratulate all of our scholars for qualifying for the global round. We are excited to hear that some have decided to participate in the upcoming Global Rounds and are even more excited to support them in planning and preparing for these big events.
Find out more about the WSC at scholarscup.org, and here is message from our School Top Scholar, Linh Thuy PHAM (Y12):
“The World Scholar’s Cup was an interesting experience. It was educational and also entertaining, and we got to try things we’ve never had the chance to before, such as debating with other people outside our circle, or doing challenges, for instance the Scholar Bowl. It was a great social weekend as well, where we had the opportunity to meet many others, sharing our ideas and competing against each other. The World Scholar’s Cup, with its many diverse and unique activities, how welcoming it was, especially for us first timers, was what really appealed to us. We are very excited to celebrate the awards that we’ve won, and most importantly, being able to move on to the World Scholar Cup global rounds. We think everyone should give it a try, since it’d be incredibly helpful for growing socially and academically, plus being a memorable experience.”
