Mr Simon Sharp – RGS Vietnam’s New Head of Prep

Mr Simon Sharp – RGS Vietnam’s New Head of Prep

We are delighted to announce that Mr Simon Sharp will join RGS Vietnam as our new Head of Prep from this academic year.

Mr Simon has BA Hons (Cantab) in Social & Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a PGCE from the University of Northampton.

Most recently, he was the Principal of The British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park, which was very highly regarded.

Throughout the last sixteen years, he has worked across the entire Primary age range in four different local authorities in England as well as in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Chicago, USA, raising standards in schools, securing children’s future prospects and molding a curriculum which develops learners into creative, caring and knowledgeable members of our multicultural world.

He used to be Deputy Headteacher of two lower schools, as well as the Lead Practitioner for the Bedfordshire Schools SCITT, a senior role in the education of trainee teachers. Then he moved to take on a Headteacher’s role in Nottinghamshire where he took a so-called ‘failing school’ out of Special Measures in 15 months, working with the staff and community to develop a school that they could all be truly proud of.

He then moved to Malaysia where he was the Head of Primary at the British International School of Kuala Lumpur. He led over 100 staff and worked with a fantastic school community to ensure first-class pastoral care, high-quality teaching and academic excellence for around 650 children- one of the top-performing schools in South East Asia.

The desire to change children’s lives has pushed nurtured his passion for education. He works with the philosophy of placing the children at the heart of everything he did, which leads to a personalized approach to teaching. To him, every child matters. He always encourages creativity, the development of both skills and knowledge and expects the very best from all the students under his care.

Mr Simon has a wife, Nancy, and two children: Lorelai and Hugo. Lorelai is currently in Year 5 and Hugo is in Year 3. Outside of his working life he enjoys going for walks, travelling, reading books and continuing to support his American Football Team - the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

We believe that with his experience and knowledge, Mr Simon will contribute greatly to the development of RGS Vietnam. With that being said, we are honored to welcome him to our RGS Vietnam community.
