From Lunch Time Revision to The World Stage: RGSV Students quality for the world Scholar's Cup Global Rounds
What started with lunchtime study sessions and after-school preparation has ended with medals, memories, and a place on the world stage.
Da Gyeong HONG, Chaeyi MOON, and Ain RYU spent months preparing for the World Scholar's Cup Regional Round, competing across two days of debate, writing, and the scholar’s bowl. They returned with medals in both individual and team categories and qualification for the World Rounds in September.
Behind those results was real commitment, quiet hours spent studying a vast syllabus and trusting that the effort would be worth it. This is precisely the kind of student that RGSV nurtures, curious, globally minded, and willing to go beyond the classroom to challenge themselves.
Da Gyeong spoke of embracing the challenges as part of growing up. Chaeyi, competing for the first time, described the medals as the moment it all became worthwhile. For Ain, in her third year, it felt less like a competition and more like a celebration of curiosity and community.
We would also like to recognise our younger Reigatians in the Junior WSC:
Jiho RYU (Year 5)
DoGyeom HONG (Year 6)
SeokHoon CHUNG (Year 5)
At RGSV, academic excellence and personal growth go hand in hand. These students are a testament to that belief, and we could not be prouder. September cannot come soon enough.
