Celebration of Kitchen God Day
Kitchen God Day is an important tradition in Vietnam which marked the start of a range of celebrations for the Lunar New Year Festival. On this day, Vietnamese people will prepare a feast to show their gratitude as well as to send off the Gods to Heaven delivering the report about the family throughout the year.
Being a multinational community with lots of international students, this is a great opportunity for RGSV students to explore the cultural rituals and values of the host country. Last Friday, the tour to the Kitchen God's altar was held for students to see the beautiful decoration and preparation with flowers, fruit tray, traditional food, paper cloths and the carp fish for the Kitchen Gods to ride back to Heaven.
During the tour, many questions have been asked, many compliments have been shared with amazed eyes. International students are mesmerised with Vietnamese customs, while Vietnamese pupils are proud to learn and show that their country has such a meaningful day every year. It's great to see our students displayed themselves as inquirers as well as being knowledgeable and open-minded.
RGSV is proud of their enthusiasm in learning a new thing and sharing their knowledge about the Kitchen God Day which evident our journey to nurture and empower them to become an international mindedness through meaningful cultural events.
