Assembly about Mid-Autumn in RGS Vietnam
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, RGS Vietnam hosted a whole-school assembly to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a cherished tradition in many Asian countries. The event offered students a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural tapestry of these nations and foster a deeper appreciation for diverse traditions.
At the assembly, Korean students took the opportunity to introduce their traditional games which are often played during the Mid-Autumn occasion, engaging audiences in the interactive activities. Meanwhile, Vietnamese Prep students showcased the star-shaped lantern walks that resembled the lantern parades in the moonlight night in old times. Performances of Vietnamese bamboo flutes and lotus dance by Secondary students also well introduced how “Trung thu" is celebrated in Vietnam. The experience allowed students to actively participate in the cultural exchange and better understand the significance of these traditions.
To enhance the immersive experience, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) generously provided traditional sweet treats such as Bánh-nướng, Bánh-dẻo and Songpeang for students and teachers to enjoy. These delicacies, symbolic of the festival, were eagerly sampled by attendees, offering a taste of the cultural celebrations. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the PTA for their thoughtful contribution, which added a delightful touch to the celebration.
The Mid-Autumn Festival assembly once again brought about a valuable and interesting learning experience for all participants. By celebrating the diverse cultural heritage of Asia, the school fostered a sense of global citizenship and encouraged students to embrace the richness of different traditions.
