A Triumph Of Youthful Innovation: TEDxYOUTH@RGSV 2024
The recent TEDxYouth@RGSV event was a resounding success, showcasing the exceptional talents and innovative thinking of our Year 12 and 13 students. Organised and executed by a dedicated team of student leaders, the event explored the theme of ‘Unlearning What the World Taught You’, providing a platform for thought-provoking discussions and inspiring presentations.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of student leaders and mentors worked tirelessly to bring this event to life:
- Ngoc Bao Pham TRAN (Year 12) - Head Organiser
- Minkyu KWACK (Year 12) - Head of Logistics
- Minh Tue NGUYEN (Year 13) - Head of HR
- Giang Ngan VU (Year 12) - Head of Content
- Linh Ha Vu NGUYEN - Su (Year 12) - Head of Media
After a rigorous audition process, a select group of talented students were chosen to share their unique perspectives during the event which occurred on Wednesday 12th December.
Once selected, speakers were assigned mentors and given 10 days to finalise their content and presentation. This year's mentors included Ms. Stacey, Ms. Jonny, Mr. Adam, and Mr. Preston; they offered advice to refine their speeches and maximise their impact. Mentors played a crucial role in this process, offering guidance on various aspects of public speaking, from vocabulary to voice modulation.
The TEDxYouth@RGSV speakers challenged conventional wisdom and encouraged the audience to question the status quo. Through insightful talks and engaging discussions, attendees were invited to:
- Unlearn limiting beliefs: Let go of outdated ideas and embrace new perspectives.
- Reimagine possibilities: Explore innovative solutions to global challenges.
- Embrace lifelong learning: Cultivate a growth mindset and a thirst for knowledge.
By questioning the norms and seeking alternative viewpoints, the event empowered young minds to think critically and creatively.
The student organisers and speakers have left a lasting impact on the school community and beyond. By fostering a culture of curiosity and innovation, they have inspired future generations to challenge the ordinary and strive for extraordinary.
