A CAS journey of culture and connection – Mid-Autumn Festival at RGSV
On October 8, the Vietnamese and Korean Language Departments at RGSV collaborated with Year 12 students to host the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration - a joyful cultural event and also a meaningful CAS (Creativity – Activity – Service) project led entirely by our Year 12 cohort.
Although the celebration had to be postponed for two days due to the weather, the excitement and festive spirit were stronger than ever as students and teachers came together to celebrate one of Asia’s most cherished traditions.
The event opened with a charming performance of The Legend of Cuoi and the Banyan Tree, brought to life by our talented DP and Year 11 students. With their natural and humorous acting, they filled the hall with laughter while helping international students understand more about the beauty of Vietnamese folklore.
The celebration continued with a series of vibrant performances - traditional Mid-Autumn songs by the school choir, a lively modern dance by primary students, and a graceful folk-inspired dance choreographed and performed by DP and Year 11 students. Each performance received warm applause and smiles from the entire RGSV community.
The cultural experience booths for primary students were another highlight of the day - from making traditional mooncakes to exploring festive crafts. All of these activities were thoughtfully designed and coordinated by our Year 12 students, who took charge of planning, organizing volunteers, and preparing materials as part of their CAS project.
Through this meaningful celebration, our students once again demonstrated the spirit of collaboration, creativity, and cultural appreciation that defines RGSV. The Mid-Autumn Festival at RGSV not only honored the richness of Asian traditions but also encouraged students to embrace diversity, take pride in their cultural identities, and grow as open-minded global citizens.
