Academic Year 2022-2023

The 2022 - 2023 academic year has begun with full-time in-person instruction.

Academic Year 2020-2021

School Closure

As guided by the Hanoi city authorities, all Secondary Schools in Hanoi closed again from 18th February to 1st March and 4th May to 11th June. Distance learning began one day following the school closure to allow time for families to prepare for the online format.  Students were expected to follow the school’s in-person curriculum and timetable whilst learning online, and were assessed and graded each semester as usual.

Examinations

Despite the government closure of Secondary Schools in Hanoi during the May 2021 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme externally assessed written examinations, RGS Vietnam was allowed to proceed with the examinations. Students in the Class of 2021 were awarded their official IB grades based solely on their externally assessed examinations and their submitted internal assessments

RGS Vietnam was also allowed to proceed with the Cambridge Assessment International’s Summer 2021 external examinations.  Students were awarded their official IGCSE grades based on their externally assessed examination results.

Academic Year 2019-2020

School Closure

The Vietnamese government closed all Secondary Schools from 1st February until 4th May. We, at RGS Vietnam, immediately moved to teach all lessons online respecting the established school timetable and calendar.  Teachers used Managebac and email to provide students with tasks and assignments to complete. Students were expected to follow their regular timetable and complete all tasks as in a normal teaching week.

Students continued with the school’s proposed curriculum and were evaluated for Semester 2.

Examinations

The International Baccalaureate cancelled the May 2020 Diploma Programme written examinations. Students’ external and internal assessment was evaluated by IB examiners and the students in the Class of 2020 were awarded their official IB grades based on this evidence and the subject teachers’ predicted grades.

Cambridge Assessment International’s assessment also cancelled their Summer 2020 external examinations. Students were awarded their official IGCSE grades based on the subject teachers’ predicted grades with internal evidences supplied.
